During the past decade the paper distribution business has been undergoing a process of mergers, acquisitions, and consolidations. The larger companies have been acquiring the small and independent companies. A by— product of these fusions has been the creation of opportunities for small, more nimble companies to fill service voids left by the consolidated giants. In 1997 Jeannie Cao , after 17 years in the paper distribution business and 6 company buy outs, decided to gather her life savings and start her own business.

Beginning with the support of 2 major manufacturers and 2 employees. Sandia Paper Company was founded in July, 1997 and operated out of small warehouse and office facility in Northwest Albuquerque.

From the start the goal of the company has been to provide quality products at competitive prices while maintaining a high level of customer service. The target market was the smaller customers whose purchases were too small for the larger companies wish to service.

Since then the company has grown from 2 employees to 9 and has moved from its original 7000 square foot facility to a more modern25,000 square foot location in the heart of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The company now represents 12 major papers, envelopes, office supplies, janitorial supplies manufacturers.

Sandia Paper Company currently serves Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Four Corner region.
